The
green shopping guide
|

|
The green shopping guide is almost finished and should be available late
2007.
The guide is a list of all the products people may need and shows the
more sustainable, environmentally friendly versions of the products,
and where they can buy them – so it makes it easier for people to buy
green! It is not a list where people have to pay for their
product to be mentioned. The SLSG is a totally non-profit NGO and we
list products only because they are seen as the most environmentally
product alternatives. So find out the more environmentally friendly
versions of the products you buy. It includes the more
environmentally friendly product alternatives for your personal needs,
your family needs and your household and garden needs; it also advises
where you can buy the products; whether from the supermarket,
environment shop or on the www.

The
becoming sustainable online guide
|

|
This is an ongoing online guide / book that will make it easier for
people to become sustainable. It will eventually be available both
online and as a book, and includes hints, ideas and suggestions from a
variety of people who are already leading more environmentally friendly
and sustainable lives. |
Part 1 is
on Creating the Sustainable House,
The
first installment is in the newsletter, so read it there.
To
start with we look at finding your new place, and /or retrofitting your old
place.
This covers finding the place: buying your place so you can start
becoming sustainable (will your potential new house retrofit easily. Or
should you look at another house) – or retrofitting your present house (is
it better to move out, or to retrofit your home?) We look at what to look
for in a sustainable house, and then at both moving and retrofitting.
Part 2 is
about Living Sustainable Lives
(–
it is about how you live and is not about the house!) – and we
cover new issues and a new part of the alphabet in each newsletter. In the
June/July issue we look at :
The
A-Z of sustainable living:
how environmentally friendly are you? We look at:
Animals,
Accountants/Auditors
Arts & crafts – Can you be more eco-friendly when buying or making goods?
Advertising – there are ways to be more eco-friendly while advertising – we
show you how, and list some
companies that can help you.
While Hilary Cadman shares her experience of living for a year
without buying anything NEW
(how did she do it without alienating, friends, family and where she
works!!) What about clothes, birthdays and Christmas presents? Start reading
about Hilary’s non-consumer, carbon neutral year!!!
