Those who are going sustainable
www.sustainablehouse.com.au Michael Mobb’s house in Sydney www.bellis.info Bellis in Brisbane www.wildmountains.org Wild Mountains Environment Education Centre. Built in the border ranges to have as low an environmental impact as possible, this centre has been carefully and sustainably built. The original design was the prize winning design of a QUT architecture students’ project in designing a sustainable building. However, this has been added to as sustainable technology and the knowledge of sustainable issues has grown,
Wild Mountains was built with the help of a large volunteer base and holds volunteer workshops on a regular basis. So if you are thinking of going sustainable and not sure if you will be able to build it yourself, this is a good way of learning new skills and of seeing whether you will have the energy to build it yourself.

Pets – cats and dogs www.rspca.org.au Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals. Adopt your pet through the RSPCA and help save a life
Horses Www.standardbred.org.au The Standardbred was created to be a harness horse – a willing worker, calm, intelligent and good natured, tough and strong. Many people have the idea that because it is a harness horse it is unsuitable for riding. As a result most are destroyed and become pet food when their racing career is over or when they fail to make the grade – even though they are still young and healthy.
The SPPHA has an adoption program for these horses to go to a new home, where they can enjoy a new life either as a family pet or for a variety of purposes such as riding, jumping or showing.
